Mum Amanda

Hi everyone,

I have just recently joined One Space. I am a single mum of one, my ten year old son.

I have joined One Space as I am currently facing some big changes in my life and really need some direction and advice. I don't know where else to turn.

I'm currently living in Scotland with my son, however, I have been offered a job in London, one I cannot get here and must take to pursue my career.

The problem is, I don't know where to begin in regards to finding a place to live, a school, childcare and any other support such as charities or support groups as i will be alone.

So, I was wondering if anyone could please help. Any advice would really help.

Thank you

Hi there - i don't know whether it would be an option but could you ask your new employer - have you accepted the job offer. Another website that i find really useful (hope this is allowed moderators) is money saving expert - they are a friendly bunch and a mine of information - good luck

Hi Littleredhen,

Thank you very much for you post. I haven't accepted the job, I am trying to work out if it is possible first. I think they company offer flexible working and have a lot of benefits for parents. I haven't spoken to them about it, but I will. Thank you.

I haven't been on that website, I will have a look now.

Thanks again

Best wishes

Amanda

You could also try netmums - i find money saving expert the best as when you post a new thread you tend to get a quick reply especially in the evenings (i am not known for my patience!)

Hi Mum Amanda

Yes, it is a good idea to talk with your potential employers to find out what's what. Also have a look at this site here, which has info about schools and areas of London and different accommodation options. Once you have done some research you can  ask more specific questions on forums such as net mums.

Good luck!
