Happy May 2014! SOOO what is going on? The chat room has gotten very quiet, no-one is talking to each other. The boards seem very quiet too.

Perhaps everyone is enjoying this brighter weather and feeling hope because it is spring and that means summer is coming.

I am well and looking forward to the long weekend, on Saturday night I am going to a gay night club for a friends fundraiser, she is cycling across USA to raise money for AIDS, I think that will be a blast. Other than that I have no plans, which I am very happy about! Smile

What are you up to?

Happy May! Totally living for Star Wars Day! ;-) hehe hope you (Anna) and everyone else (Louise, PQ, Looby, Sparkling, et. al.) are well! Anna, your night out to a gay bar sounds awesome! Hope you have a fab time, and your riend sounds an inspirational lady! <3

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, life's been a bit crazy lately! I didn't get a busy open house in the end, one mummy turned up with her 1yo boy, so we attempted to make macaroons instead, although I accidently forgot to dry the bowl for whisking the egg whites properly, so they wouldn't stiffen, leaving my friend holding the hand whisk for like 30-40 minutes, woops.... :S hehe

The next day we met up with Sprog's daddy and nana at a soft play centre, Sprog and her dad had loads of fun, he spent the whole time with her which was nice, so I got to sit and chat to his mum :) although they both might as well have insisted that next time we meet up we go to his work (Wacky Warehouse/giant softplay) I am adamant I do not want to- he works there fgs!

Been a bit of a stresshead of late as well, as I've been naughty staying up til 1am, and Sprog wakes up to come in bed with me, don't recall her having any more bottles though! Thankfully though, I had my first session of CBT on Monday, it went quite alright actually :) my homework until my next session (after my holiday!) is to sleep! Hehe so no more posts from me after 11pm, or you can slap my wrist! :p hehe I've not been doing too bad with it either, and Sprog has a new routine too, been putting her in her cot to go to sleep, as she kept fidgeting and being a pain to go to sleep, and I put the radio on quietly for her, on the second night, Sprog actually slept all night in her cot, so I woke up really rather worried about 10 minutes before my alarm! And resultingly woke her up, d'oh! Hehe :)

This coming week, Sprog and I have a friend's baby's christening to go to on Sunday, then will just be getting ready for my holibobs next Friday! Can't wait!!! We're off to Great Yarmouth for a week with another single mummy and her little girl, who's a year older than my lg :) who says Sprog is her "best fred"! So cute :') hehehe

Hope everyone's having a nice time in whatever they're doing!

Hi Clever Mummy, great to hear your news. it's fab to be given "sleeping" as homework and it sounds as if you are settling your little one better and getting to bed yourself. Hope you have an excellent weekend and the holiday sounds exciting too Laughing Are you staying in a caravan?

Morning one and all, and here we are in the May chatroom. Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. There is a local Gala here on Monday and although I no longer go as the boys have grown up, there is a parade through the streets. I am meeting some old college friends today as well.I've had a good week with another book quiz, starting the Alpha course at church and my swimming as well.

What are you all up to? have you had a better week, Sparkling? Hope it goes well today, PQ. Looby, has all the chocolate gone, have you heard anything about the house?

Look forward to hearing your news Laughing

It's been a quiet week really, although I did over two hundred miles driving yesterday.

The older two were in the orthodontist yesterday morning, so had to take them to school and college after.  Then oldest needed the car, which his sister had in college. Then I had to pick up youngest from his very short day in school to go to the fracture clinic.  He's out of plaster - yeaayyy.  Then to pick up his sister and brother, and sister's boyfriend.

Then we went to see Mother-in-Law (beat her at Boggle...), and then we went to pick up daughter's boyfriend from work later.

My youngest gave me a hug before he went to bed (may be 15, but I still get a hug and goodnight kiss), and he said thank you for all the driving I'd done that day.

I then told my daughter what he said, and she says that he has the best bits from us all.  Which I thought was such a lovely thing to say.

They may be incredibly lazy and not work as hard as I'd like them to with school and college work, but they can come out with the kindest and sweetest things.

Not a lot going on this weekend.

It's the thing I do find hardest with my lot grown up, and that is the days out we used to have.  My days out are now so often on my own.  My friend was asking what I did before I had to stop going out on my own.  When I told him I'd walk for miles on the beach and sit and watch the sea, I think he has finally understood why I do find it difficult on my own.  I'm so restricted now.  And lets face it.  You can't really sit and watch the sea for hours...

I do miss walking the most.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I think sleeping for homework sounds excellent.

Have a nice time pq.

Enjoy time with your friends Louise Smile

Wow, sparkling, that was a lot of trips but I was still surprised it added up to 200 miles but then again you have to count the coming back as well as the going. Glad your boy is out of plaster and he did appreciate your efforts yesterday.

Know what you mean about the beach, it has to be very warm to sit for more than a few minutes at the sea. Although hopefully you can sit on the beach in a deckchair this summer.  Any more swiming plans after last time?

Met up with four friends today and had a good laugh. Quiet day tomorrow (at least I am not on the creche heh heh)

Hello all, happy May!

Clevermummy, I made a new years resolution to sleep more. Although I don't manage it all the time I am better than I used to be. Hope you are keeping up with your homework.

Sparkling that was a lot of driving, but sometimes it works out like that, especially for you as I get the feeling places are far apart. I too love the beach and could watch the sea for hours, I would like to live nearer so I could go more often. It makes me feel at peace with myself, a feeling I don't have very often.

Louise, glad you had a good day today, its nice to catch up with friends.

I had a good day, met up with a new friend, we went for a walk, although I ended up doing a 100 mile round trip as I had to take the girls to my mil first, but it was worth it Smile.

Tonight I have an unexpected night to myself as the girls are with their dad. I'm listening to The Craig Charles Funky Souly Show on Radio 6 music at the moment, its making me want to go out for a dance! But sadly no one is free at such short notice so I will have to settle for a dance round the kitchen with the cat!

I'm finding this weekend is very long... Having not been able to sleep has made it even longer.

This relationship malarky isn't good really, is it?!

There was more driving about yesterday. Bought some clothes for my daughter and a shirt for me (I need some stuff that fits...).  A surprise as I'm not seeing someone until Monday and not today...  I feel things like that are better knowing.  In case I want to jump on a plane and go to Spain for a weekend!  (As if!)

So yes.  A very boring enforced long weekend.  No work I need to do at work either, which is usually the place I run to...

What is the matter with me?  I seriously do worry about my juvenile attitude.

There's nothing wrong with dancing round the kitchen, PQ. Although I do worry about the neighbours whose house backs onto mine, heh heh.Did you watch Britain's Got Talent?

Sparkling you're not being juvenile, you are just not accustomed to a bit of peace and quiet. My life is also in that mode some of the time these days, it's when the children grow up and do their own thing, and you have got used to a bit of adult company, which isn't there this weekend. I found it hard to get my head round the different lifestyle, felt a bit "well what do I do now, then?" and flinging myself around but it does settle, and you WILL be able to sleep when you get used to it. Weird though, isn't it, when for years we said and thought "if only I had half an hour to myself"?

So, happy Sunday to everyone, what's the plan? Any nice cookery afoot? We just have a chicken pie for today as I have a load of shopping coming tomorrow. Yesterday I did some stewing steak in the slow cooker with shallots and carrots and there was enough to freeze a portion for another day.

Definitely a quiet day for me, I have a book to read and a film to watch and it's swimming tonight.

Morning,

I did watch BGT last night. I love watching Ant and Dec's reactions, they really make me laugh. I also watched Alan Partridge, Alpha Papa on love film, he makes me laugh too.

Sparkling I had some free time last night that I didn't know what to do with, its a funny feeling isn't it? Like louise said you wait for years for a bit of 'me' time and then when you get it its like you've forgotten what to do.

Today I have my friend and her little boy coming over for lunch. Her son is such a cutey and my girls adore him so he loves it as he gets their complete attention which means my friend and I get to have a good old chat. We're going to have a table picnic so lots of yummy little things to pick at.

Enjoy your quiet day louise.

I'm not sure if today was better!

I have done bits and pieces of decluttering and cleaning over the weekend, but with having to stop I think that doesn't help...

A friend WAS in today, so I did go and see her for a few hours.  Then a drive out this evening to sit on the beach my summer romance friend introduced me too.  It was blooming freezing mind!  Summer romance and I are still friends, which is really good.  He helped me so much without knowing.

Is is funny though, isn't it pq, when you do have that time to yourself.  The years, looking back, have passed so quickly.  Easy for me as I can leave my lot now.  My older two are really good for being here...

Enjoy the swashbuckling pirate novel Louise.  One thing that is good with the lighter mornings is that I can start reading the Kindle earlier.  The reading lamp I have doesn't light it up in quite the same way.

Enjoy the extra day off, for those who do have the Bank holiday.  A one day week for me this week.  I still miss working the four days...  I've written a load of business ideas with son contributing to them.  Once college work is out the way then I need to somehow get him to focus on them.

Sounds like everyone had quite a nice bank holiday!

Oooh good luck to your son, Sally!

Oooh sparkling, what is your business about? Sounds interesting :D

I'm not on holiday yet, I go on Friday! :) had a ovely and busy bank holiday weekend, finally met my new niece on Saturday, she's 7 weeks already! And she's ginger :') hehehe Sunday I went to a christening, and yesterday went to a friend's bbq and took Sprog, which was nice :)

Saw Sprog's daddy today, had a nice time in the park, he didn't say much at all to me again but meh, tomorrow I'm doing all my washing and drying at my rents' house and abusing their tumble dryer! I don't have one (heh heh heh)! Also got a hair appointment for Sprog and I in the morning :) then Sprog's other GrP's are having her for a few hours so that I can finish my ironing and pack ready for Friiiiday!!!! :D hehe

My nails are growing a treat as well, I stopped biting them for lent, well..... It took a good 2 weeks to get in to it, but they're still growing marvelously :') hehehe can't wait to go for my first proper manicure!

What has everyone else got planned for the week?

Thanks, Sally! I've tried a few times over the years, and it's only ever lasted a month or 2 each time, so I'm really pleased with myself this time! :D how're your nails now, then? :) today was a wash, cut, blow dry for me, had my bob put back in, my hair had grown so much in the last 2 months! It's crazy! And Sprog had her fringe cut back in as well- her hair has grown loads in less than 2 months! Bless her, she was an absolute darling today, she fell asleep whilst I was having my hair cut, sat very quietly nibbling a sandwich and watching at first; then we cut her fringe whilst she was sleeping :') hehehe

We have had a splendid day! I got all my washing done and dried, ready to be ironed tomorrow! :D

Hope everyone else has had a lovely day too! :)

So glad you had a nice day clevermummy the pamper session sounds like a real treat.  I have not bitten my nails for years now but can't seem to get them to grow that long they are rather brittle and tend to brake easily, had ago at fake ones a few years back and ended pulling of couple of nails which was rather painful.

Do you have anything other than ironing planned for today?

I have quite a few meetings today and my Cuba Class tonight, i'm starting to see some results which is encouraging.

Hope the rest of you enjoy your day and it's not so gloomy looking where you are Smile

I was a nail biter too and although I don't do it anymore like you Sally my nails are quite brittle and break easily so the don't always look that good. My grandma used to eat a cube of raw jelly every day, she said it kept her nails strong and her hair glossy (sounds like a dog food ad!!) not something I've ever done but she swore by it.

I went out last night and met up with a colleague who retired last month. She had that look of someone who no longer works....I felt quite jealous!

Hmmm I'm having the opposite problem, they're to soft, although they're a lot firmer as I started taking a vitamin for hair nails and skin whilst growing them this time :) I have also heard of an awesome stuff to put on your nails called Nailtiques, which you can only buy online. For me I would get formula 2, it's much better than any nail hardening formula you can buy from shops. For hard, brittle nails, you would need to get Formula 1. It is a bit on an investment at about £18 for 15ml, but it lasts ages, I read loads of good reviews, and not so many bad reviews, and a friend recommended it to me :)

PQ, I've heard that before actually! I read it in a few magazines, it's the gelatine I think :) haha yeah, they say you should put certain stuff on dogs' food to do that aswell, my friend gives her dog raw egg yolk something like once a month :) yolk only! White is very dangerous for dogs! Hehe ahhhh that is quite annoying when that happens :) lol hope you had a nice time though! :)

Ironing, packing and some cleaning today, Sally :) Sprog is now out with her GrP's, I miss her already lol have fun at your Cuba class! :D it sounds fun! :D

Right, spose I'd better hit the iron...... :) I've already wasted 45 minutes :\

Have a good day!

Hello everyone, it's the weekend again Laughing

Clevermummy, hope you have a wonderful holiday and well done with your nails. I used to paint mine with bitter stuff to put me off biting mine. I am a great believer in your nails improving with the right vitamins and minerals.

Sally tell us a bit about your Cuban class, is it dancing?

Sparkling you will end up on Dragon's Den with your business ideas. Seriously, it's good to focus your son on the next step, I always think it is such a worry getting our children "settled" and you are taking extra care to think of what will suit your son in his line of work. It's good that you can think positively about your romance...so often people come into our lives and "get us ready" for the next stage. Did you get the mattress?

PQ how are you? Just the usual two day weekend this time but another long one soon. How's work been? Are things a bit more settled with the girls?

I have finished my pirate novel and sent it back to my publisher friend. The next thing will be a short story in the same series. The Alpha course is going well and so many people coming, including my window cleaner! Looking forward to Monday as I am meeting up with my eldest and his girlfriend and my youngest is coming too, so a real family outing.

The fridge is empty so that's my next job. When you live with a human hoover it's a very regular neccessity! Wink

Morning, yes only a 2 day weekend...booo!

Things with the girls have generally been going well, A has been a bit 'teenagerish' the last few days but I seem to be coping with it better at the moment. I'm trying hard not to take her outbursts personally or think that I have to fix it. Giving her space seems to be doing the trick at the moment. I also have a mummy-daughter day planned with her today as H is going to a freinds for the afternoon and overnight. Not sure yet what we'll be doing as she hasn't decided but I'm sure it will be fun Smile

I got back to my car earlier today to find that the person in the bay next to me had parked at an angle of 40 degrees. As I had backed in and they had gone in forwards, they had been able to open their own car door perfectly comfortably but I could not get to the driver's door of mine! Luckily I was able to get into the passenger seat and release the handbrake and roll the car forward enough for me to get out and walk round to he driver's door and open it. Louise the Cuba class is an exercise class that uses cuban dance moves it is rather fast paced, getting the hang of it now though, when i first started i struggled with co-ordination which probably gave the others some laughs.

I'm off for an x-ray this morning.  I saw the GP yesterday as my left hip is not behaving, shall we say... X-ray is a walk in service!  So I'll get it out the way.

The mattress did arrive, thank you, but not without a drama!  The 18 year old is so glad to have it and is sleeping a lot better without springs digging in his back Embarassed I had to save up though...  My friend is able to shop without thinking.  He doesn't always realise that this isn't the case for me.  That, perhaps is going to be our stumbling block...  Had a nice weekend though.

A bit of a situation at work as in the two year contract we won in January has been taken off the contractor.  This was my main area of work.  So I popped into the job centre yesterday and I've made an appointment to see the disabled adviser.  I thought there's no harm in seeing how things work there.  On the other hand I could well be with the business I'm with when I'm 90 the way things seem to go...

Sally, I'm glad you got to spend time with your family, but sorry you didn't feel too well.  I hope you're feeling better.

I hope you had a good time with your son and his girlfriend Louise.

Sorry you are having such a hard time with that psoriasis Kiera, I really hope it clears soon. I love this early summer this year! ! And I am off to a free music festival in South Devon this evening. I don't normally do things like that (grumpy old man and all that!) but I am really looking forward to music, drinks and friends for a weekend.

Enjoy night out this evening Pancakequeen!

Morning, how are you all?

Sorry to hear about your skin, kiera, I do think something like a light cotton cardi or even a cotton shirt over a sundress would be cooler for you.

Hello PQ sorry to hear you felt a bit down but pleased the sun has given you a boost. Enjoy the time in the garden.

You too, Sally, I will be expecting reports of what you have done in the garden next week (haha bet you have a nice sunbathe) I come up in prickly heat if I don't lather myself with suncream so tend to sit in the shade, my mum was a redhead.

Sergiozed enjoy your festival and the company of friends! My pal who was an avid festival-goer in her youth, now gets a day ticket and stays in a Travelodge haha.

Sparkling it sounds like you have grasped the bull by the horns in several ways, what with getting your X-Ray and making the appointment at the Job Centre and sorting out the mattress. Not to mention your track record at Boggle!

I had a brilliant time on Monday with the boys and eldest's girlfriend. We laughed so much that the eldest was crying and I thought to myself that the youngest is finally out of that "my parent is pants" phase and enjoys being part of the family again. I am also growing to love the girlfriend, she is wonderful.

Got another pirate book on the go at the moment, which is great. Went to a charity fundraiser evening last night. Ordered a fan for the bedroom, website went wrong and tried to debit my credit card 5 times so the company blocked the card. Victor Meldrew eat your heart out! Last night I dreamed my youngest son was pregnant. He was very relieved I was not cross with him Cool

What's everyone up to today?

Oooh my phone is letting me type :-D

Hi all! Got back from my holiday yesterday evening, my friend and I had a lovely time, but our girls both played up in the first half of the week, then it was just my friend's girl playing up in the second half hehe we think they were over excited! So we lived for their bedtimes, and enjoyed laughing at the day and chilling out with cups of black and Xmas tea lol we were quite lucky with the weather as well, it was quite rainy but with sunny spells until Monday, then Tuesday onwards was much sunnier for the rest of the week :-)

Kiera, my ex's mum's psoriasis was cured by sitting in the sun :-) hope it clears up soon ^_^

Sounds like everyone has lovely plans for the sunny weekend! :-D we're going to my parents house today so I can do the ironing I left before my holiday, whilst Sprog is kept a bit more out of the way lol

Louise I'm so glad you all had a good time.  It is good when you can all go out and have fun.  I'm looking forward to my birthday - even though it is ages away - so we can go out.

Hope you're having a good weekend pq.

I hope your skin is calming down Keira.

Have a great time at the festival sergiozed

Hi everyone, I am tempted to say something really cheesy like "Phew what a scorcher!" but obviously I won't...Cool

Hello clever mummy glad you had such a good holiday, sure you will feel the benefit of those good times.

Sparkling yes, trust you are planning something nice for your birthday, it is not that far away. What are you up to today?

PQ hope you had a good time with your friend the other night.

Kiera have you managed some time in the sun?

I am looking forward to going swimming later, but got to do creche this morning, luckily more people are on the rota now as it does seem to be my turn rather more often than anticipated. Could be lawnmower time this afternoon too.

I did 'try' to get to the gym this morning, but there is a majorette's thing going on so I couldn't get near the place!  But I did try... Innocent  Unfortunately I did notice a donut van there and it is quite tempting to send a child down there later to get some - but I won't...

I hope you enjoyed the swim Louise.

I went for a ride to Llanberis yesterday to sit in the sun for a while. There was a cool breeze here though.  And in the evening I took my daughter and her boyfriend out for a ride.  He moved here a couple of years back, and has seen very little of the area.  Nice to show him around.

I might pop in to work later.  CHAS time and we need an inspection for a new accreditation.  Still not quite sure why these things end up on my desk Smile

So glad your arms are a bit better Kiera and that the sun did you good. Have a nice swim Louise and hope your garden is not too big to mow, luckily here a neighbour boy loves some extra pocket money and mows for 5 pounds....well done Sparkling resisting the donuts,

last night the neighbour passed by for a glass of wine, we were sitting in the garden as it was still so warm outside, our dogs running around having so much fun. She is at loss as she lost her husband 9 months ago and cannot bear being on her own. She has bought this new house and most of the time still stays at her sisters or her son and a lot of people are visiting her. She was so lucky to have been loved so much, but it is so hard for her now to let go

Hello everyone

Yes, Skyflower there is a saying that goes "Grief is the price we pay for love" and thats true whether someone dies or they betray us. You and your neighbour might end up being really good friends. That's lucky about the boy who will do the mowing for a fiver, I only have a small garden luckily.

Sparkling the things end up in your in-tray because they know you will do them Wink Don't work too hard though. Well done for resisting the doughnut van.

Glad your skin is improving, Kiera.

The creche was busy this morning, glad I have "done my duty" for a few weeks now.

Hope you all have a good evening, it's the Bank Holiday next weekend and I guess half term too?

Hi there!

I had a lovely evening with my friend however my car broke down on the way home so I had to be towed back! Its in the garage being fixed, they've just called to say the problem that made it break down has been fixed and will cost about £75......but they have found some other things wrong with the breaks which should be addressed so that will, cost a further £250.......how much????

Did you go holiday skyflower?

Glad to hear you had a lovely day last week with your boys and girlfriend Louise, had a laugh at your dream about your youngest did you tell him about it? do you have plans for the Bank Holiday weekend?

Great to hear you had a fab holiday clevermummy!

Way to go keira, hopefully we will have a few more days of sunshine to help clear up your skin. Is your son doing exams this week?

Unfortunately the gardening did not get done, no sunbathing either Louise, though i did spend a while treking around gardening/diy shops, the strobe light in the kitchen broke, i went and got a new bulb, still did not work, back to shops to get a new starter and to find i did not need the new bulb Grrr.
