Hello everybody

I am in contact with doctor of Anthropology of Migration from
Bristol University. She has previously published
and done many projects on sham marriages. Those were all marriages where person
paid another person to marry him in order to gain visa or citizenship to remain
in UK.

This time we are looking at other aspects of sham marriage. The
one that happens when a person is deceived into thinking he is marring for love
but in the end gets abandoned as soon as spouse gains “papers” to legally
remain in UK.

You may think that was not your marriage. That was not you
and certainly not him.

But if your partner was not UK
or EU resident from third world country like Pakistan then you are at increased
risk of being married for papers.

Share your story with me and together we can protect dozens
of women and children who get abandoned each year.

Hello

You might think its not you. Not your marriage and not him.

But if you married a man who was not UK citizen and from a
third world country like Pakistan etc you are at risk of being married for
papers.

Many women don’t even know about immigration status of these
men before they get married.

Since Workers Registration Scheme was cancelled in 2004 for
all newly joined Eastern European countries it became possible for those men to
marry anyone from there and become their dependant and use them to obtain UK
Citizenship after 5 years of marriage. Most of these men are Muslim. This puts
additional stress to relationship.

It happened to me.

It may happen to you without you even knowing.

I would like to gather a support group for women like me and
also start campaign against immigration law in UK.

Hope you will join me!

Please share your stories if you suspect you have been
victim of paper marriage.

Dear Katka

What has happened to you is so hard and you have done wonders to bring up your daughter alone, I am glad that you have such a lovely relationship with her.

Hope that anyone else with similar experiences will add to this thread Smile
