Hi, I've just registered, and looking to meet other single parents in the area. would love to find local single parents groups in bristol if they are out there? seem to be  finding  difficult to find anything like this, myself and a freind have asked a local childrens centre who have timetabled in a specific group which is great but i may not be a able to get there as theres a clash of commitments on that day. I have a 15mth old daughter and live in south Bristol, weekends are pariticualy difficult for me as I can feel very isolated as I dont really have any family support and my daughters father only visits monthly, wonder if there are others in same boat, would be great to build a network and maybe arrange day trips at weekends or just tea and company for both children and parents Smile

Hi artemis23 I have 2 girls aged 5 and 20m and live in st george bristol havent really come across any specific single parent groups either but will let you know if I do.  Your idea sounds great as I also have not much support from family or my childrens father  Best wishes Smile

Hi thanks for response fairyface, just to say to all that there is the new sinle parents group starting at compass point childrens centre in bedminster i havent got full address but compass point has a website its on a monday 2-3, it was myself and freind who spoke to the childrens centre about the need for such a group it starts up next monday 12th sept, frustratingly its proving difficult for me to get there but i hope its a success, also the POP Shop, 20 north street , bedminster(childrens freindly cafe) has set up a single parents forum group, first tues of the month 2-4, i went along yesterday, bit thin on the ground but would great if more could make it. Hi there, I don't know if you have seen but One Space is a project of Single Parent Action Network and we are based in Easton, Bristol!

We have a study centre where single parents can come along do some courses, socialise and general meet other people parenting alone.

artemis23 thanks for the info on the 2 single parents groups in Bristol, where do you hear about these????! I will get them onto our Local section of the site.

Hi anna, that's great I would like really come down and visit, im not great with forums thought it was in bristol, but couldnt find contact details, just the forum, but I looked in titch hikers guide and the numbers in there so will call and visit.

The childrens centre group on the monday was prompted by myself and a freind who spoke to one of the workers there back in june, I thought they were going to consult with us about format, time/day ect but they just put it in timetable for septemeber and I cant make the day they chose! (so a bit gutted!) I visit the pop shop reguraly as its a new child friendly cafe and discovered the monthly single parents forum. Really hope people can support  the groups thanks for putting them in local sectionSmile

Well done for helping set up a single parent group, but how annoying that they set it up on a day you are unavailable.

I hope that you get down to SPAN, I look forward to meeting you! Just come and ask for me! Laughing
