Hi Ladies

Just a quickie. The upshot is after my Ingeus advisor cancelled my appointment two weeks ago I received a rescheduled one in the post. However due putting the appointment in my phone diary for the wrong day and discarding the letter I put the wrong day(should have been the 5th and I put it in the 6th). I rang my advisor on Tuesday to inform her I couldn't attend due to feeling dreadful (battling two abscess in my jaw-awaiting an op to remove them) , I was informed by her I had missed it!! So I'm rescheduled for tomorrow. I went to sign on today and explained the above situation, the chap at the JC looked at the screen, the no show is on file without any date of notes for sanction. Would anyone know if I will be sanctioned , would there be a note on the screen to say they have advised sanction. My worry is the knock on effect for HB/CB!

You could say I am a tad worried!

Thanks Littleangel,

I've abided by all their rules etc. This was a genuine slip up. I see her tomorrow to will ask.

I wouldn't mind, my advisor is pregnant and has cancelled so many of my appointments its ridiculous!

Hello Helly13, I am sorry that I do not know the answer, but hopefully you will be able to sort it out today. You have a track record of being available for appointments, it is not as if you are on a warning or anything so it seems to me reasonable that you are "allowed" to make a mistake. If there is any argy-bargy then insisyt on seeing the manager, stay calm though....... Good Luck

Easier said than done Helly13, but I hope that this doesn't cause you too much worry, when is your op on your gums?

Hope all went okay Helly. It was a genuine mistake, so hopefully they won't sanction.

Hi Ladies,

After a sleepless night and a vivid dream of going to the bank to find they hadn't paid my JSA but finding my bank balance swollen by £2.5 million, I hot footed it at 7 am before to face the good or bad news! My JSA  has been paid, phew! Yet knowing how slow and unpredictable the DWP are I think best to get some sort of confirmation no sanction will be enforced form this missed appointment. I have even drafted an appeal letter already so no delay woudl ensue! I also found out contrary to the CAB that Housing Ben/Council Ben would be affected as the DWP inform of all sanctions!

So in order to meet all situations I have compiled my recent bank statements to show the Housing Benefit of lack of income if the DWP still sanction me!

What galls me is Ingeus have cancelled appointments left right and centre without informing me, only for me to arrive and be met with a shrug of the shoulders and lack of apology! If I were to conduct my appointment system like that in my last role- I would have been sacked within a month yet these people who hide behind the DWP can conduct themselves in a less than professional manner!!

I wouldn't worry so much as my Father who is worth quite a lot of money could bridge any rent shortfall if the problem arises , however after last week I don't want to even set foot  over his doorstep!:(

Oh Helly I am glad you got your JSA.

Can I suggest that you keep a log of appointments cancelled by them, to build up a picture, and then if you ever DID need to write an appeal letter this would be great material to include cheeky

Trust all still okay with jsa?  They don't sanction immediately. When I was sanctioned (2 weeks loss of jsa) it was referred to a 'decision maker' and took 2 months to go through system.  Re HB/CT B it may be suspended temporarily but if you explain you now have less income coming in then they will (usually) continue the claim & backdate anything outstanding

I missed an appointment with Ingeus this morning as my ex didn't collect our child when he was supposed to (over an hour late) - and there is a chance could face my 2nd sanction - which would be 4 weeks this time.  It depends really on the adviser - and mine is pretty strict, so...  still, at least this time I ought (in theory) be allowed access to hardship payments? About half of usual benefit.

Wish I could find paid employment though. Am heartily sick of this poverty stricken existence, terrified of making the slightest error because of the threat of sanctions all the time.  Little wonder am suffering from depression!

I agree, ava b, it is putting people on edge all the time.

Are you getting some support from your GP/acounsellor with the depression?

Hi Louise, yes am getting some support from counsellor thanks - although funding & cutbacks mean sessions now limited. Have one more then will be permitted to self refer, but not for 3 months! Then you join waiting lists again and cannot guarantee same counsellor (who has been an absolute rock about sanctions & everything else)

GP offered anti depressants, but have problems taking them unfortunately.

Oh it is bad when the counselling is so time limited. I wish that someone in authority would realise that if more free and low cost counselling was offered, less medication might be needed and even more importantly, people could lead happier lives (and ultimately be more economically productive if that is what the Government is wanting!)

(puts soap box back behind curtain)

Nevetheless, go back to your GP who might be able to advise on homeopathic remedies...or a local support group. There are Helplines listed on the Mind website, where you can talk to somone who understands, and also on that site it will tell you if there is a local group.
