Joint custody

Tristan

Hi all,

I have a 4 year old little boy who is starting school next week ( very proud). I have had nothing but problems with his mother ever since she walked out when he was 5 months old, I have a contact order in place and have always wanted to see him as often as possible however his mum still makes this difficult. She has a complete disregard for the order and my rights as his dad, she even applied for his schools without consulting me!!

A couple of days ago I was taking my son back to his mums and he told me he didn't want to( this is getting more frequent)because 'mummy, always shouts at me for no reason' now I know my son and unfortunately I know his mother and this concerns me very much!!

I am fed sick of her dictating when I can and can't see my son and it is now affecting him, I want to apply for joint custody, has anyone done this or can anyone comment on my chances?

Hello Tristan

I am sorry to hear that you are not able to see your son as often as you expected and indeed, as defined by the contact order.

You need to take some legal advice but first I would recommend looking at this website here as it has some excellent advice for parents without the main day to day care of a child.
