I have recently signed off JSA. I was informed that the job grant would be paid into my account within a matter of days. I spoke to my advisor last Tuesday, and she told me she had noticed that something was wrong, so she had called JSA, and had been told, someone had forgotten to 'press a button'.

Checking my account today, the money still wasn't in there, so I rang my advisor who was shocked, and told me to ring them myself. I've just done this, and have now been told the customer (if eligible) doesn't get this one off payment for about five weeks!!!! The in work payment £60 also takes weeks, so at the moment, I am trying to feed myself and C, keep the electric meter going, pay the tv licence, and keep gas and water company happy (which I cannot do).

I've been told by JSA that he has now sent an e.mail, it then goes through to the decider, and I should hear by 11.30 tomorrow morning. It is disgraceful. They want us to return to work, they say we'll be better off, and yet right from day one of signing off, I'm owing money already!!

Do they actually think we single parents are able to put money aside for a rainy day?

The work must be expected to last for at least five weeks, and you must notify Jobcentre Plus within 21 days of starting work.

This was on the website, work must be expected to last for at least five weeks  Certainly different to what the man has told me. He said I had to be working for five weeks.

Is it me????

Result.

Have just done a Victor (thankyou Louise). I rang my advisor, and she rang them to find out what was going on, telling me that it was their fault. She's just called me back saying it is all done, and I will have it in my account by Friday.

I won't hold my breath, but watch this space!!!

I totally agree with your post, hazeleyes, all this encouragement to go back to work and the system is not supprting it. I hope so much that the money hits your account pronto.
