Hi aphy Congratulations on your new job Smile

It would be a good idea to tell them now that you have got the job, when you start, how many hours etc, they can then exlain what will happen and when, i.e , last signing day, it will also give you the chance to notify any other benefit departments of the pending change in your circumstances.

At least telling them now may get them of your back and the rest of the holidays may not be so stressfull with you worrying about having to go and tell them.

True ill let them know nxt sign on date. They will still be on my case as whilst waiting for new job to start i will still have to do job searches for temp jobs. Last time i signed off i rem doing it the day before i started work. Prob changed now. Anyways already requested a wtc app pack. Hi aphy, what did they tell you about the term time rules? i think this depends on what type of work contract you have?

For Working Tax Credit the Term-time only workers rule should apply.
This is if you are working in a school, or an educational establishment and you have a recognisable 'work cycle' that lasts for a year, and, your 'work cycle' includes period of school holidays or similar vacations which you do not work.

this is what onespace told me. My job is in a college, mon-Fri 10till2 term time only as they are closed during holidays. 20hrs a week wages will be paid monthly equally over 12 montbs

Hi aphy, great to hear that you can apply for wtc term time only. It is really good to hear that you are going to get your wages paid over the 12 month period.

This next period of moving into a job can be difficult with all the benefits changing. If possible I would highly recommend photocopying everything that you fill in if possible.

Are you looking forward to your new job?

Hi aphy, I am not sure if there is financial help any more for single parents going back to work, there used to be a job grant, but that finished in 2013. Contact our Benefits expert to find out if there is help for busfare etc. Let us know how you get on.
