Hi everyone

Just waved my kids off on their 5 hour trip to Blackpool to see their Grandparents with their Dad.

I've been really stressed the last couple of days and not really knowing why.  I think it's lots of things adding up.  Things I haven't dealt with as well.

I do feel better now they've gone.  The older one's asthma has been playing up and I didn't know how it would work him going there (the Dad isn't very on it with the asthma) but I rang the Asthma UK helpline and they helped me make a plan.

Ironically while I was getting them into their PJs the youngest was going a bit downhill with his asthma.  I'm just hoping all the instructions I have sent will be heeded.

He drives pretty fast too which is not good for me when I'm waiting to hear if they got there ok.  On the plus side it's just them in the car (not the fiance and her kids as usual) so no worries about them being in the boot occasional seats on a motorway and dying in a rear-end collision.

I did say drive safe to him which I could tell p***ed him off.  I hope I can get myself together while they're away - the last two days have been a nightmare.

I'm off to see a friend tonight.  I've learnt from past experience that I need to not be alone for the 5 hours!

Thanks to anyone still reading this drivel

Gem

AAGH yes, five hours is a long trip. I understand sooooo much how you feel about this. What a good idea to be with a friend during this time. I would just be having kittens and as for the "drive safely" comment, surely you would say this to anyone setting off on a long trip so a bit silly for him to be offended.

Hope so much the asthma is Ok and you get the message promptly about their safe arrival

(NB changed the title of the thread just 'cos we try to keep it to things that kids would be Ok to read, hope that's ok Wink)

Let us know when you hear from them.

oops sorry Louise!

They got there fine.  I have a stomach bug though and was up all night being sick......I really struggle to identify when I am feeling unwell.  Probably the last couple of days has been a bit about that too.  Durr!

Oh poor you, yes the feeling in your tummy that you thought was nerves could have been partly that coming on, mind you I would have felt jittery too.

Glad they got there ok Laughing

So glad they got there okay! I would have been nervous about that too. Well done you for getting through it.

Thanks everyone.  I do always feel a bit depressed when they leave - I always have to have at least one totally unproductive evening where I feel really low.  Feeling better now and ready to sort house out for Christmas!
