Hi sabbah, welcome to one space.

How awful for you, is it income supoort that you receive or jobseekers, have you been on it for a long time?

I actually dont know of a weekend number for dwp but if you are really in dire straights for the weekend you could try Salvation Army.

Others will be along to offer advice to you xxx

Hi sabbah, if its not a new claim, have you had any letters or phone calls from dwp, has anything changed recently for you?

It does happen where the computer messes up and people dont get paid on time, one thng I would say is that if your money doesnt go in on the day that you expect it to then always call them to ask why it isnt there.

That though wont help you get through this weekend, do you have gas and electric and food, these are your priorities right now, all other bills can wait for a min. If like me you have prepayment meters then they will no doubt be running low. Do you have a friend who could top them up just enough to get you through till Monday? If you dont but are on prepayment then you will have £5 emergency on each meter which used very carefully will last till Monday.

If you dont have enough food to last till Mon then dependant on where it is that you live there might be a foodbank, google it and see where your nearest one is, the Salvation Army also will help with food or possibly your local church.

If all of these prove not to be able to help you, you can call social services out of hours service to see if they can help you, again google for their number.

I do hope you are ok, I know it is so worrying when things like this happen especially on a Friday xxx

Hi sabaah

This happened to me just before Christmas 2009.  I called into my local jobcentre who phoned income support for me.

This did post a giro cheque to me, as they wouldn't set up a direct payment as an emergency.

I received no notification that they were stopping it or that they had a query.

It really was awful, and I still check my account daily after that - just incase.

I do hope that it 'appears' in your account, or that jobcentre plus can help on Monday.

Hello sabahh,

Welcome to One Space

I am sorry to hear that this has happened to you. One of the things to take forward from this is that if you do not get your payment on the due Thursday, check first thing Friday morning and take action straightaway if it is not there, you will then have all day Friday, with all the offices open to sort it out.

As for this weekend, tiredmum has given you some excellent suggestions. I have had a bit of a dig around but the info I can give you is limited as you did not put down your address on the joining form so I cannot see what area you are in so the Salvation Army and the social services emergency numbers are the best bet for this weekend, I can't find the specific numbers for you as you did not give your location. It really is food and power that you need. Have you family/friends/neighbours that would help with the food side, maybe join them for tea or they could give you some bits to tide you over. I know it is difficult to ask but I am sure that you would be glad to help someone in dire straits yourself.

On Monday morning first thing, if the money is STILL not there, you can ring 0800 032 7932 to apply for a crisis loan and 01722 427110, which is the number for an organsation called The Trussell Trust, which operates 70 foodbanks throughout the UK.

Also if matters are not resolved with Income Support themselves then contact our confidential 1-2-1 Money Advice Service here. They will be able to give you advice for your personal situation.

One thing I found really helpful when on very limited income, as you are now, was to get together a very few pounds for dire emergencies. You could collect small change in a jar or put aside a pound from your fortnightly payment until you have, say, ten pounds. The hard thing about that is to disclipline yourself NOT to raid that unless it is literally an emergency, but at least you then know that you have food for the family if this ever happens again.

I do hope you will be Ok, let us know

Hi sabaah. I really hope you get this all sorted today. I remember them stopping my money, and once I called them, I received another phone call within 4 hours to say the money had now been put in the account. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

hi any one, i suffer with amniesia so i try and keep records of e verything but sometimes things just slip no mater my efforts. this being so you would think maybe the bennifits offices would keep an eye on me. yeah right i should know better by now eh. any how i managed to miss a fortnights worth of incomesupport by thinking that my mind had just forgoten that it was due and this was a week inbetween and when money started to get low i just thought that some bills i had forgoten about had been payed out of my account.  but wait a minute at last i smelt a rat and whent back through my records, they have missed a whole fortnights payments on the week of my sons 18th birthday. so no present there let alone the 1 loo role and  an empty fridge. look i know it will all get sorted in the end but where is the son of a ***** who cant do thier job properly cos i want aword with them and i want to kick them in the shin and rant and make it plain how much agro iv been through and will keep going through till someone pulls thier finger out. so i ask you all is there any way that i can get some recompence or even asorry from our friends the burocrats?

sorry for the poor spelling but that fell out of my head too lol

Hi up to here, your rant is understandable.

I think getting a sorry from the powers that be is highly unlikely so I wouldn't hold your breath! Foot in Mouth

Have you contacted the benefits people and showed them that they missed a fortnights payment? You can get some advice from our Money expert by clicking here.
