Hi ina_bio

The Citizen's Advice Bureau really are the experts in this field. You say you have already checked with them. if you would like to double check then you can email our Money Expert. I believe one of the things that is looked at is whether you have paid enough National Insurance contributions. I know you said that you worked in 2005 but if you have not paid National Insurance in the last five years then this might be the reason....Anyway mail our money expert to check but it does seem unlikely if the CAB has already told you you can't. It is also worth asking them at the same time if you could get other help (such as with rent and council tax) if you either a. stay as you are or b. do a few hours work per week.

Hi

Its just an idea, but I looked into moving abroad I am british and I was looking in the EU so not the same at all, But I found that even living abroad in the EU I was still entitled to my british benefits if I needed them, like Income suport.

It may be a long shot because I don't know if it being in the EU makes a difference but maybe apply to Romania for benefit you might be able to get it even living here?

I would definatly talk to the jobcentre though, because there must be something you are entitled to, Refugees get benefits dont they? I'm sure they do so what ever they get you must be able to get to I'm sure.

Another great place to go is your local MP they are fantastic at helping you find what you are entitled to.

I hope you manage to get sorted its awful that any country you call home doesnt recognise your need to support your child xx
