lioness

Hello all,

I recently discovered this site.  I am a single mother of 2 children ages 11 and 18.  My childrens father passed away several years ago when my youngest child was very young.  I have had some highs and some extreme lows, mainly financial.  I am at the stage in my life where i would like to make some drastic changes as i have spent so many years dealing with all aspects of being a mum and dad and now want to put myself first. I am inthe process of quitting my job ( which is extremely demoralising) and go back into full time education to better my prospects and gain a more meaningful and fincially rewarding job.  My last holiday was in November 1993 and i would love to go on holiday with my children and give them some happy memories which they deserve.  I am scared because i was hoping i could get help with the costs of studying.

Hi lioness and welcome to One Space Smile I LOVE your username, its fantastic!

I am sorry to hear that you lost your childrens father, I imagine your family has been through a roller coaster of emotions the last few years.

So, you are going to embark on full time education! Have you looked into the finances to support you with this venture (see Grants and Loans for Adult Learners)? What are you hoping to study?

It seems an age since you have been on holiday, please have a look at our list of Single Parent Holidays that was put together by single parents, some are very low cost and offer subsidies. Are you planning to go for it this summer before you start studying?

Hi Lioness, have you had any luck getting support with funding so you can study?
