I have been separate with my ex-husband for 1.5 years now. Feel lonely, difficult to sleep at night and worry about my son's future. Love to make friends with all of you

Hello newlife1

Welcome to One Space!

Just to say that I had to delete your name and email address as we try to keep those things private here and people can leave you messages online smiley If you would like to post a message suggesting meeting other single parents locally then please do so here (click)

I know it can be lonely and isolating bringing up children on your own, well we are here for online compnay now and you may also like to have a look at our article Making New Friends.

Do you go to any local groups with your son? How about Netmums?

Hello Louise,

Thanks for your comment. I take my boy to the local play groups regularly. Monday to Friday are better. Weekend is a nightmare as I feel so lonely. Married parents at play group are not welcome single parents so quite hard to make friends. I will try follow your advices

Yes, I agree the weekends can be the hardest. There must be lots of single parents in your area. How about starting up a meeting group of your own on Satrurdays?

Have a chat with your Health Visitor as well to see what she knows about in your area.

Hi newlife1

I think weekends and loneliness is one of the most common issues that single parents face. So you are not alone there.

Did you have a look at Netmums? They do have some excellent things going on.

What sort of things do you like doing with your son? Walking? Swimming? Arts and Crafts?

Living in London is a good thing as there is a wealth of stuff going on around you. Have you been in touch with Gingerbread, they might have a group that meets regularly near you?
