Hello,

I'm a journalist working for BBC London TV looking to interview a London-based parent who will be affected by the forthcoming changes to Child Benefit. It's part of a wider report looking at the impact of spending cuts in different areas across the Capital.

We would need to spend around 30 minutes filming with you on Monday.

Please email me if you're happy to participate at preejha@yahoo.com

Many thanks,

Preeti

Hello pree

Thanks for the post. I would have thought it unlikely that most single parents will be affected by this change to Child Benefit as it only applies to those earning over £44,000 per year!

One of the biggest potential flaws in the new system appears to be that cohabiting parents (not married) may well pretend to be single parents in order not to lose their Child Benefit because of their partner's income, and this may be difficult for the authorities to track them down.

One of the issues for single parents in the latest government proposals is that David Cameron has implied "more help for stay-at-home mums" who have husbands and partners, with transferable tax allowances hinted at. This, at a time when "stay-at-home" single parents are being forced back to work as soon as their child hits seven. In other words, a double standard extraordinaire!
