Hi People

Just looking for ways to dye hair, i'm currently have black/ plum hair colour (after many attempts to dye without lightening my hair first using hair dye that said would dye black hair purple) Looking to go more virbrant colour like purple/ blue for the moment as come winter i will end up taking on a snow white look again, pale skin dark hair pink lips, my friends says its good for halloween but really fancy a change.

Any ideas how to lighten really dark hair so i can achieve the colour i would like

Thanks

I'm afraid I have no idea when it comes to hair colouring.  I know I wanted a blue streak for a while, but friend who was my hairdresser told me I was too old!! Laughing

lol, i dont think you could ever be too old for anything, my mum is in her 60's and has a really black hair with a grey streak right though the side, of thats natural but i am tempted to die it pink or blue for her as i think she could pull it off.

when i was in my early 20's i remember going to the hairdressers to do my hair and spending about £300 every six weeks, that was cutting, styling, dying my hair god knows what colour, depended on the season and having hair extensions in, which my bosses always wanted to pull out, the hair colour was another issue with them. But really can not afford to go to the hairdressers to colour my hair. costs too much

People seem to use pre-lightening stuff now. So do you not fancy something like henna?

Hi SG

I don't think that there is away to change really dark hair without lightening it first, as most colours will only lift 1 or 2 shades, i think that you can find pre lightening stuff on Amazon or i have seen it in chemists i think L'oreal do one!

On the outskirts of town, near to me there is a big 'hairdressers' shop called Sallys, I have just had a look and they have an online shop Sallys Express.

A friend of mine 'stripped' my hair of all colour a few years ago. When you put it on and wash it out your hair goes a disgusting colour, but then we started again with a lighter shade and it worked really well. I think she used 'one n only colour fix', although I am not sure if this is american.

Maybe you will have to look for a hairdressing forum, ask the question and then come back with your findings!

Ah, bless you, you lucky one! I would not put lemon juice on dyed hair - it'll turn it green. But maybe you'd like that!

Wish I could do some hair dyeing!
