Just posting to let people know how I uninstalled Windows Explorer 9, which was messing up several of the websites I use, including this one and my online banking!

First make sure you have an alternative browser installed. I use Firefox, free to down load, just Google it.

So here is what I did on my PC:

Start-All Programs-Windows Update-View Update Site History-WAIT for ages....new window opens (eventually) Find the right update (9) highlight it with left mouse button then there are options at the top: Organise, View or Uninstall. Choose Uninstall.

Hopefully 8 will still be on your computer but if not at least you have your backup browser so that you can re download 8. And anytime further updates come up as avaailable, uncheck the box for 9 so it doesn't come down again.

Heck that was my best effort. Anyone else?

In the meantime, triedmum, try using Firefox as a browser?

Hi Louise, yes I already use Firefox alongside ie, like to run both, will keep trying to sort ie9 out, you never know it might just appear in the updates and I can remove it!!!!!!!Laughing

What email is it? yahoo, gmail, hotmail... ? If it's gmail she shold just have to login at the google page, like here... Google or any web based email... like yahoo or hotmail? you should just be able to go to the web page and log in, same if its BT.

Need more info basicaly : )

If it's something you previosly logged into with explorer then you should be able to do the same in chrome...

I would have thought.

I dunno, does it it say anything?

Delete browser hystory and cookies as described here.

Other than that I dunno, sorry.

Hello. I have Yahoo e.mail. The google chrome just says Facebook, suggested sites, website gallery and on the far right, it says other bookmarks. If I open that I am able to get to Yahoo etc, but I would like yahoo as a toolbar as well as the google chrome. Is this possible Bubblegum? I don't like messing around without really knowing what I'm doing, as I've totally screwed things up in the past, which you've been able to help me with Smile

Thankyou in advance

Hello...

No there is no yahoo toolbar for google chrome... but you can set yahoo as your home page, or you can add it to your favourits. But!

Chrome also has 'extensions' there are hundreds of them and they all do various thing, in fact hundreds of things...

I think this one will do what you want...

Yahoo Mail widget. (it's free)

It adds a little button in the top right from where you can access your yahoo stuff.

If you install it then after there will be a little purple button, top right, click on it.

I`ve recently tried google chrome, but on my comp it seems a lot slower than ie or firefox, not sure why have reverted back to ie9 and firefox, really dont like ie9 but cant get rid of it as it doesnt show as being added really strange Laughing

I don't think you can uninstall it as ie is heavily integrated with windows, I think that the only way to get rid of it would be to restore your computer to a point previous to it's instalation, but then windows update would reinstall it if you have it set to automatic (that's it's default) and if you set it to manual it would just be sat there everytime you looked and in the end you would just install it to make it go away : )

There is Opera, that's a nice browser too : ) it's free and has loads of nice things with it, you could try that and then uninstall it of you didn't like it :)

Thankyou Bubblegum. Genius man Smile Have just downloaded, clicked on mail box, and took me ages to work out how to delete some messages (what am I like) hehe. Have sussed it now.

Tiredmum, google chrome seems much faster for me. I have also got firefox (courtesy of Bubblegum ages ago). That seems to go slower and slower for me. Shan't delete it just yet though, (just in case)!!

Hi Bubblegum, yes you are right, it would be the only way to get rid of it, wish I had just stayed with ie8 now, that was fine. I will give Opera a go not tried that as yet, thank you xxxLaughing

ha ha hazeleyes, I`m keeping all of them, I like firefox for some things and ie for others and always like to have at least 2 different ones downloaded at the same time just in case one crashes which at the moment ie9 does a lot!!!!!!!!! xxxLaughing

Hellooooooo Bubblegum. Little ole me again. Where is the favourite box? Very confusing all of this Cry

In Chrome its the little star in the right of the address bar, towards the right of the chrome window, at the top.

If you click on new tab, the little plus sign at the top to the right of any open tabs another will open and your favourits should be along the top of the the new tab just bellow the address bar.

The address bar is where the web page address appears... www.blahblahblah...etc.

Incidentaly, you can search directly from the address bar, just type what ever in as if you were at googles search page.
