There is particular concern about the coalition's plans to bring in credit reference agencies to "go after" suspected benefit cheats.. from here..

Some info on benefit fraud minus the hyperbole .. here.

Some info on the cost of tax evasion here, may contain hyperbole : )

Some comment.. here, probably lots of hyperbole, who knows.

All in all it's just more excuses to monitor and cross check everything they have on us so they can make us do what they want us to do in a world of rules set by them* all in the name of efficiency.

(Moderator: sorry I had to remove this last link as some of the content contravenes site policy. This is ironic because it was an article about anarchy against the "state rules"!)

Them = The ruling classes, the government, that lot, I only mention it as my dad was all ways going on to me about.. them them them, Simon, who do you mean exactly?

Cathy Newman's article shows there are some journalists looking into this and could possibly by trying to get others to put down their tar brushes.

There are lots of interesting points of view here. The bubble diagram we looked at a couple of weeks ago showed quite clearly that expenditure by the DWP (whether genuine, fraudulent or erroneous) is just a very small part of the Government's budget.

Sorry I had to remove that last bit, Bubblegum. As I said, ironic because it rails against rules, and here I am imposing them...but some of the suggestions/values were things that I know One Space would not want to publish on here and it is my role to monitor these.

The figures for "benefit fraud" that are being bandied around are part of the current media campaign against various "soft target" groups, which include people with disabilities and single parents.

More cuts at the expense of your average person..

"Although the new number is free, it is expected to be far cheaper to run than NHS Direct because it is likely to employ fewer medically trained staff"

Not that i've ever gotten any advice other than take paracetamol and go see your doctor from them anyway.

Haha that Monty Python thing is good! It is ages since I saw that film.

NHS Direct has had many critics. I saw on the news about the new service. I think it will be better Smile
