I'm having such trouble with my daughters eating habits, her weaning is going fine but she refuses to eat the main meal (veg, meat & baby food) she will only eat fruit, bread & normal snacks. I've tried everything even not giving her the fruit and leaving it until she is extra hungry but even then she still refuses. she use to eat it but for about two months she just isn't intrested! she has suffered weight problems due to her reflux & is on the lower scale of the weight chart so I'm glad she's eating something but she can't just survive on that, I want her to have veg etc.

Hello Tinkerbell2

It's worth having a chat with your Health Visitor bur I would say in general that all you can do is to continue to offer different foods. Do you eat the foods too? Just thinking a bit of mummy eating it and saying yum yum etc may prompt her curiosity. Try and make meals as low key as possible (I expect that is hard for you when your daughter has different allergies and you have had to go to such trouble with selecting the food in the first place!) Veg can be found in baby foods and you can also think about her eating it as finger food such as cucumber, bits of sweetcorn, carrots she can pick up, let her be a bit messy with food. As long as she is getting some protein in her diet (which can be beans if she will not eat meat or fish) then try not to worry too much.

Did you look at that vegan baby link that Anna gave you?

Yes I looked at that link, it was very helpful :). I give finger food but only about 10% ends up in her mouth with the other 90% ending up on my floor haha. I take a spoonful of all her meals infront of her and make yummy noises, I've always done this even with her milk as I like to know and taste what I'm putting in her mouth\belly.

Hi Tinkerbell2

This can be a real concern for parents, my son was lactose intolerant and i remember him going through that stage of being really picky about what he would eat (as have all my children, but he was my first), at one stage he refused to eat anything other than chips.

I was concerned and spoke with the health vistor, who suggested to just let him eat chips if that was what he would eat, as there were no problems with his development or weight, she said it would not cause any harm.  Anyway i did as she suggested after a couple of week of chips, and me not hassling him to try to eat other foods he decided he wanted to eat something else.

Here is a link for Netmums who have advice for parents on this topic it may be worth taking a look to see if there is something that could help.
