HEllo  I just wanted to know what age you stopped giving your child a bottle at night and weaned off dummy.

A still has approx about 3 bottles during the night & one when she naps during day ,at a year and half of age, as its the only thing that settles her, she still doesn't sleep much, dispute attending a sleep clinic which was no help at all. I give her a bottle at night as its the only way I can catch a little sleep and keep her quite for a while. should she start being weaned off as all my friends babies are  not on as many night feeds.

She also still has a dummy, not all the time but when she's destressed, I know she's still young so it's ok to give her one but I don't want her to end up being one of these 7 year olds walking round with a dummy still- what age do people tend to stop giving a dummy?

My boys stopped having a night bottle when there were about 10 months. But mines were really good sleepers. And the dummy fairys came when they were about 2. Every kids different right enough! They all do things at different paces. Mabey contact your health visitor? Ask her advice:)

Good luck

Hi Tinkerbell2

The dummy thing..that varies. Many people see if the little one is happy to let go of it on their own and if not, then they "leave it for Santa" with great ceremony when the child is 3 or 4 and Santa leaves prezzies because they are extra good. Once A goes to nursery it would be better if she was not using it during the day perhaps.

As for the night bottles, I think you will have to judge what's what as I know you have so much trouble with her sleeping. One school of thought says "give them water if they wake up" but of course it is YOU that has to take the consequences. However I do think three bottles a night seems a lot now she is older, and I was wondering if she could have a bigger tea of solid food to keep her fuller? I know you also have to be careful with A's allergies. Do you feel your Health Visitor is helpful and you could chat to her about it?
