Hi guys, I'm Mitch and new to this. I just wanted to know if showing appreciation improves your quality of life? How do you say thank you to people? Does saying thank you make you happy?

I would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions! :)

Hi fanxmitch, welcome to One Space.

Absolutely showing appreciation improves your quality of life and also the quality of others, everybody feels respected and appreciated. Really a no brainer!

Do you find it difficult to show appreciation or say thank you? Has someone told you that you don't do it enough?

Hi Anna. Thank you so much for your very quick response! No I don't find it difficult to say thank you at all, if any thing, I say it too much! haha! I just wanted to find out if people said thank you enough or realised that saying thank you can make you happier. Also, how and what do people do to say thank you? Is it just verbal communication? or a card?

I agree with Anna.  I expect my children to say thank you too...

We do send thank you cards as well as 'just' verbal.

That's great to hear! I think children of today aren't being taught enough manners so well done you!!! I work for this company and we're all about saying thank you and showing appreciation! Its really fun too! I didn't realise how much fun saying thank you could be hehe! I think the UK should have a thanks giving day like they do in the U.S, what do you think?

No, I don't think we need a thanks giving day.  We have harvest festival, which I believe is the equivelant, where we thank God for the harvest.  Not really anything to do with good manners to others...

I run the local Scout group, and I have to say that all the young people in our group are well mannered and courteous, and come from diverse backgrounds.

It all depends how you are brought up. I was taught to say Please and Thankyou, and I have done the same with my son, 8. Just like everything else, children have to learn manners.

My kids say please and thank you to everyone... except me. : )

They only say it to me when they want something. : )
