Hello - I got married 5 years ago, I was young & stupid- the marriage only lasted just over 1 year then my husband tried to sexually assult me, I never went to the police instead I packed my stuff and left, I later returned when he was at work to collect my last few bits only to notice my wedding & very expensive engagement ring had vanished from my jewellery box- I contacted police and TWO years later they took him in for questioning only for them to not charge him....I haven't seen him since the day I walkedout and filed for divorce over 2 years ago by legal aid but the solicitors I was using went bust & he had refused to sign papers. I have a 1 year old and changed my surname bk to maiden name when pregnant so I didn't have my married name, also changed back to Miss...no company's near me do legal aid so I'm stuck married, althou I live very much as a non married woman, when i did manage to get in touch with husband he said he would apply for divorce as he hated being married still but that was a year ago almost & I still haven't heard anything from him - I can't afford to go thou courts and pay myself- I wouldn't ever get married again but would be nice to have the option

Having read it, I wondered if you want to contact our legal expert? I've inserted a link here. It sounds as though you would much rather be a divorcee, and they may well be able to offer you some advice on your situation.
