Hello,my name is V and im a single parent (obviously!) to my gorgeous 16 year old son C.Ive been divorced for 14 years and in all that time my ex husband has shown no interest in my son,he is almost £17,000 in arrears for child maintenance and has just been reassessed as having to pay absolutely nothing because of a change in his family circumstances.Ive no idea where he is or what he's doing but i know he's still working. My question is this,if i ask to change to the new csa 2012 rules, will it make a difference in his payments to me? My case is currently under the 1993 system.Im so frustrated and angry and i need to do something about this deadbeat.Any advice will be so greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Hi nessals and welcome to One Space, wow £17,000 is a huge amount of money to owe. I don't know the answer to your question however please put it to our CSA expert, who will let you know what you can do to move forward with this.

I am not surprised that you feel frustrated and angry with this, especially as I am presuming that your ex has a new family, who he is providing for?
