Mindysmum

Oh gawd, I am so confused, been refused Jobseekers Allowance, but been awarded income based Child Tax Credits ( I have no income at the moment). Myself and two teenage children are living with mother and her partner, in overcrowded conditions. Been refused council housing because of assets, which I cannot get to BUT can I still claim housing benefit and council tax benefit because of no income. I am so confused. Help!!!

Forgot to ask in previous post, do you think I should apply for a Crisis loan?

Hi Mindysmum, I have just left a message on your other thread, I really think you need to write to our Money expert and get some professional advice on this.

Our Money expertise is offered by the Citizens Advice Bureau and I think it would be a really good idea, to go and find your local one, so that you can talk all this through and get some support face to face. So initially you could send a message to our expert on this site and then go and visit your local area office.

I know it feels all so confusing right now, but it will uncomplicate itself and smooth itself out over the next few months.

Find out informaton on what is on offer from The Social Fund, you may find that you are entitled to a Community Care Grant.

Thank you, I have made up my mind that I will go to Citizens Advice. It really is a minefield and I have realised I cannot do it on my own. I was to get an outreach worker because I left abusive relationship, but 3 weeks have passed since contacting them and I really need to get this all sorted now.  At least I have got child tax credits and I've checked with them I am entitled. So little steps and heading towards the little chink of light at end of tunnel.

It's horrid being in the situation you are, as its out of your control.  CAB have, I have to say, been incredibly helpful with me recently.
