Hi everybody,

Im trying to leave my alcohlic husband as mine and my childrens lives have become unbearable but i dont have any savings i have 2 part time jobs that i manage to just get by on does anybody know of anywhere that could help me get a bond/deposit to rent a property i can afford the rent if i was to get one just cant afford the intial outlay. any advice welcomed.

Hi susan66

Try your local Citizen's Advice Bureau as some areas (not many) have Bond Schemes.

Another place to try is Women's Aid, not that they can give you a grant but in view of what you are going through in your relationship, explain that you are keen to leave and ask what help there is in your area.

Do also speak with your local Housing office and apply for Local Authority Housing (no deposit needed), you will have to explain that your marriage has become abusive because of your husband's drinking and see how long they think it would be before something suitable comes up.

Once you have this information to hand (from these sources I have mentioned) the ring the Shelter Helpline on 0808 800 4444 for some specific housing advice.
