Busy Mum of three!

Loumas943

Hi all,

I am Louise and a single Mum to two boys ages 10 and 15 and a little girl aged 5.  I am looking to meet new single parents, particularly those who may have suffered with mental health issues, (I suffer myself).  I love animals and have two lovely dogs who keep me fit!

Hello Loumas943

You will indeed be busy with your children as well as your dogs.Welcome to One Space, it is a very friendly site and please do join in where you wish.

Sorry to hear that you have had some mental health issues, many people have these (I believe one in four people?) so you will find understanding here. Maybe you could tell us a bit more about yourself when you feel comfortable. There are a couple of helpful articles here. Do you get some support with your health?

Hi Loumas943, welcome!

I know the statistics say it is one in four people suffer from poor mental health at some point in their life, I think it is actually higher, because many times it goes unnoticed.

I look back to when my daughter was younger and I was struggling emotionally, I never once thought that my mental health was suffering, I was very ignorant to what mental health was all about.

So I am glad you have raised it, luckily I only had one daughter, I see you have 3 children, wow! Have you been a single parent long?

Thanks for sharing that bubblegum, thats really cheery to know!

'....suggesting that while non-depressed people see things in an overly positive light and severely depressed people see things in overly negative light, the mildly discontented grey area in between in fact reflects the most accurate perception of reality'

Surely perception is down to each individual so how can anyone know what is an accurate version of reality, I question??

Loumas943, when you say you suffer from mental health issues, can you be more specific?

Indeed, what is reality? is it even what we each thinks it is?

Personally I don't think so, reality is only what we think it is, which it isn't : )

But I posted the above because I think that it is naturally to be depressed, if you look around you at the world there is enough to be depressed about, but! just being depressed about it doesn't change it, it is what it is, if you can change those things around you that get you down do so, but apart from that just get on with being happy.

Try your best at least.

You can't be happy all the time and being down helps you appreciate when you are up.

I've been depressed and tried to kill my self and sat about thinking about killing my self, but I didn't.

And here I am.

Not that I'm wanting to belittle peoples depression and feelings of hopelessness, I've been in my own personal version of those. The answer is generally inside you to find the way out, some people need pointers and help to find it and some people never find it and some people just kill them selves.

That sounds a bit depressing. It wasn't meant to be, just matter of fact.

Here. The world is what it is.

A Zen perspective on depression.

Just to go on... I first decided that I must get into Zen as a young student because I thought it sounded cool and it is! and I thought it would somehow make me all mysterious and attractive to mysterious and attractive women (it didn't) but ultimately I got into it for completely different reasons to what it actually turned out to be for me.

And well blah... not something I can explain, just it's right for me sometimes.

: )

Now! If I could just find something that did make me attractive to mysterious attractive women I could be truly happy.

: )

Hi Bubblegum

Hope you and the children are well. Do you like philosophy?I find it so interesting and have been watching the debates on BBC4, the are on very late at night, it is an American lecturer who has been debating our politics and our justice system, thought you might enjoy it if you can find it on iplayer or whatever catch up system.

I have had some wonderful debates about all manner of things, really enjoy that, but there again I just love to talk!!!!! ha ha

Hi tiredmum,

We are al fine thanx : )

I love things about the mind, I read a great book a while back called they prehystory of the mind about how our conciousness evolved, spculativly of course because we don't realy know as there was no one about to document it but it is generaly agreeded that art was one of the first things we started doing : ) expressing our selves.

And I'm fasinated with 'reality' ever since my dad told me that thing about does a tree make a sound when it falls down and no one is about. : ) That colours don't exist, it's all in our minds : ) the universe is so big that to travel across it at the spede of light would take longer than it has existed for, the Pulsating Theory.. and so much more : ) so much to learn and find out and such a short time to do it all in.

And I think my spell checker isn't working as it's pretty rare that I write a post without spelling mistakes, yet maybe I just did : )

Tatiana4.. I don't have enough time in the day to fit in all the things I want to do, games to play, books to read, guitar to play, the internet! and the house and the cooking and the cleaning and the endless questions from my kids.

I can loose hours of the day drinking coffee and reading wikipedia.

But what is it all for? and I think well it's to fill my life with interesting stuff so I don't get bored : )

I hate being bored since my dad used to say, when you say you are bored you are in fact saying I am boring becasue you can't find something in a world of infinate interesting things.

My dad said lots of things : )

My daughter just said.. daddy can you get me dressed I'm too cold.

?

Later.

Yes, that is pretty massive! Smile

Depression is also pretty massive, and can range from a vague feeling of dissatisfaction to a very debilitating mental condition. Many of the clients I see as a counsellor are suffering some degree of depression and people can have recurrent bouts of it, sometimes with an obvious cause, such as things from childhood or current situations, but sometimes without explanation.Yes, activity does help but sometimes even the slightest level of activity is unattainable. The Zen article is very interesting and partly uses logic to discuss whether it is reasonable to be depressed....and although that appeals to my logical mind I know from years of working with people that depression is not a "reasonable" animal.
