Hello everyone! I am not sure if i am posting in the right place here so please excuse the newbieness!!

What it is i am currently trying to move home and the apartment i like needs a high bond from me, so i applied for a budgeting loan. I got the paperwork today and they are willing to give me the full amount of 812.00. BUT they want 17.45 per week back off me which is 70.00 ish per month! I think this is quite alot of money and i won't be able to afford it! I start university in september and money will already be tight. Has anybody else here had a budgeting loan? Have the payments been similar? :(

I did call them back and ask if there was any chance it could be reduced and the lady on the phone was pretty rude to me and told me i filled in the form with my outgoings so if i can't afford to pay the loan back then i can't have it. Very helpful when me and my baby have 4weeks to move out of our home :( :(

Thanks in advance!! x

Hi everyone new on here.

My twin girls of 17 have been offered a scholarship abroad to play football as a single parent i can't afford the extra amount they are asking for. Does anyone know if there is anyone i can turn to, to get help for a grant or loan to help towards their dream. Thank you for any information  anyone can give me. x

Hi Eyelashes. Welcome along. I've had budgeting loans, and until recently they kept my payments at a set rate. Ring them back, and ask to speak to a supervisor, or someone higher up than the person who answers the phone. This is possible, as I've requested it, and on the second try, someone has called me back. Once you get to speak to the supervisor, manager, explain your situation, and ask if they can reduce it, if yes, then get it in writing too!!!

Hi Lorraine, Welcome along. If you scroll down, look at the left hand side, you'll see Latest on One Space, there is something there about grants. Keep posting though, as others will be here that might be able to help you.

Hello lorraine56

You will have to do some digging around re grants, have a look at this site, which lists sources of finance. The other route you could down is getting your girls featured in your local paper and appealing for help from the local public.

Good luck!

Hello Eyelashes89

It is definitely worth giving them another ring and asking for a bit more time, but please note that the current guidelines for Budgeting Loans say that they should be repaid by two years after the loan is given. When you speak to someone, mention this two year period, it looks as if what you have been offered is a one year repayment period.

Hi amars, go to this page Contact Jobcentre plus where you can find your local Jobcentre plus (who would have issued the budgeting loan) and you will get either phone numbers or you can email them.

I hope this helps, come back if not :)
