HI i dont know if this is the right section or not but i am sure some one will put me rightWink

Anyway the ex is asking if the children can have their bikes or should i say whats left of the children...

My problem is their now live on a ruff council estate and each bike cost over £400  and i bet she wont insure them and i can guarrentee the 15 year old will lose his as he has learning diffculites and just had his replaced last year due to the last one being stolen.

What do i do i would rather keep them here with me where they are safe.

Oooo  difficult one...

My lot had bikes that they would ride to their Dad's.  We're quite lucky as its not too bad an area although things do go missing.

If it were me, I'd be tempted to say no.  Especially with what's going on.

As an alternative, would you be able to insure them, and keep a note of the serial number?

my local area has a cheap bike place - its a local community project and they sell bikes for next to nothing - obviously these are not the latest models but my kids have had bikes for approx £25 each and they are perfectly fine - or could you look on gumtree to get a 2nd hand one for them

Thanks

The bikes are insured under my house insurance etc i have already say NO just thought i would ask on here.

I will check with the insurance to what the situation would be if i did let them have them.

I used to rebuild bikes for under privalage familes at christmas and at one time i would did 10 bikes but the SS would NOt help me dispose of them due to Health and safety but luckly that year S was in some day group and they held a christmas fair for such familes.

I would always get my children to test drive the bikes before they went to new homes and having a 3.5 year old and upwards was great.

most of the bikes i got from freecycle

I would be surprised if the insurance covered the bikes at a different address

Hi there, sorry but I am of a different opinion, I think the children should have the bikes, they need their independence. You could do one of the following for peace of mind:

Register your bike

Electronic bike protection

I agree with Anna, If the bikes were bought for them they should be with them. Bikes can get stolen from anywhere, not just council estates. The bikes are safe but not serving any purpose at the moment, when the kids could be making use of them.
