BBC London
Our programme Inside Out London covers different stories from the London region and is a prime time current affairs show on BBC1 which transmits on Monday nights at 7.30pm hosted by Matthew Wright. On average our audience reaches 500,000 per show and we cover a wide range of topical, current affairs issues. We have been looking at making an 8min doc on the new Education act coming into force in June which will review the way expelled pupils can be brought back into mainstream schooling.

We want to look at both sides of this story -  the fact that this new bill will stop schools from being forced by panels to re-admit excluded pupils, thus giving schools the final say over exclusion, but also to the parents and students who have gone through the current appeal process and have been pleased that their child has been reinstated back in the school. We want to also look at the Pupil Referral Units and the positive work they do in educating the children that are excluded from the mainstream schooling.

We ideally would like to talk to a parent whose child may have been expelled and then reinstated back into the school. It's important to show that some parents do win that fight to get their children back as we will show the other side of this where children end up being placed permanantly into Pupil Referrel Units.

Love the way they look for expelled children on this site. As though expulsion is something that only happens to children from single parent households!
