hi every one,did anyone watch the cherry heally programme last nite on how women feel pressurised to look good? i did and altho it made me laugh esp when she was at the nudist place lol but it also made me sad aswell! i feel the pressure everyday to look good, its everywhere you cant get away from it,i have lived in maxi dresses this summer as i am naturally pale and you see all these girls in little shorts and dresses with there tanned legs! and im sick of being asked on internet dating have i been sun bathing? am i enjoying the weather ? no no no lol i cant wait for winter when i can wear my jumper leggings and ugg boots lol and i have been out today wearing no make up on principle and i feel fine lol i dont wear a lot of make up anyway but i think il be going out natural more often,am a size 14 i know il never be a size 8 again but i wish society would just ease up on women and how they should look a certain way im really trying to learn to love the way i look and i do think beauty comes from within.does any one agree? or have any tips on how i can learn to except and learn to love the way i look?

I notice that some newspapers and magazines spend a lot of time telling us how 'fabulous' some female celebrity looks after losing her baby weight, or she has 'started to look after herself'.

My way of dealing with this pressure, is to give it no mind. I won't read magazines or watch stupid TV, far too much on some channels about top model, or looking good naked, snog marry avoid - what is that about??

I think elle81, we need to ignore what the media says and listen to the voice in our heart that says ' I love you for who you are' and if we are still not happy then we do need to go out and exercise, so that we are content with what we have.

Hi elle81. I've said hello on your other thread too. Hope you're having a good evening, and not watching those dreaded programmes, lol.

These programmes have to be taken with a pinch of salt. For example, has anyone seen that terrible programme "Take me out"? where a panel of women have to decide whether to be considered for a date with a single gent (usually a bit of a "character") Why do I watch it if it's terrible? Because it's so bad it's good.....and also I notice the  producers have been very careful to stereotype the panel of women: a set of twins, make sure there are a couple of black women in it, plus a chubby girl. a very, very tall girl, a teeny tiny girl, an older lady, a posh one and one who is the opposite of posh. In other words it has me laughing with horror (I need to get out more)

Elle81 it is tempting to think that looking "beautiful" or being very thin will make you happy but it doesn't. Just look at Cheryl Cole! Be proud of you and the lovely person that you are!!!

Oh mi gosh, that 'take me out' is shocking! The men seems absolutely awful and the women sometimes seem so desperate!! (Although I have only ever watched snippets of the prog, so who am i to judge!!)
