alibar

Hi,

I hope all is good we each of you.

I was wondering of anyone else has a child with sensory processing problems or ADHD?

Love some advise and support from others like me.

Hi alibar hope you get some replies from parents who can share their own experiences with you. Are you involved with any support groups locally or online?

No. This is all very new and really look for any support of other parents with children like me.

There are a few parents on here who have similar experiences so I hope you have some good replies.

In the meantime, one website you might try is here (click) I appeciate you are waiting to have your boy assessed and in that sense, although we may not want a "label" for our child, once there IS one, it is easier to know where to look for support.

Hi alibar, I have no personal experience of this, however I just wanted to share another website ADDISS, I came across it looking for support for a parent and found it really interesting, I rang the number and had a good chat with one of the workers.

Interestingly I said that as I work with single parents I was surprised how many were raising children whose behaviour was on the autistic spectrum and she said that it is genetically inherited, so perhaps that was why the relationship broke down, because the behaviour of one of the parents had never been identified as being on the spectrum (because it wasn't really around in our day) and that person was having to deal with it in their own way - erratic behaviour, alcohol, drugs etc.

Hmmm, it certainly gave me food for thought.

I hope that others will come forward and chat with you here about raising their children with ADHD or similar circumstances.
