A list of organisations offering holidays for single parents and families on low income, plus companies who offer good deals for one parent families. Some single parent self help groups also organise holidays for their members - see the Groups section for a list of groups in your area.

Low cost short breaks and holidays organised by members. Regional groups offer local programmes of outings and get togethers. Membership is £7.50 a year and includes 4 newsletters a year detailing holidays, events and info on how to contact other members (include SAE.)

Holidays for low income families who would otherwise not have a holiday. The home is low cost, self-catering and non-sectarian, set in 3 acres of beautiful grounds. Lots for children such as snooker, play room, toys and games. Open March-October, price £38.50 per adult per week, £11.55 for children.

The Mother’s Union

Away from it All Holidays (AFIA) is funded by the Mother’s Union, a Christian organisation, aiming to provide holidays for those experiencing times of stress. Anyone can apply for a holiday, you don’t have to be a church member. A variety of holidays are offered and you need to be referred by a social worker, GP, etc.

The Youth Hostels Association offers a special deal for one parent families, for whom family membership is £13.50 per year and includes membership for any child under 18. Membership gives access to 240 Youth Hostels in England and Wales.

HELP has been organising lone parent holidays for 29 years. It’s a registered charity run by people who are or have been lone parents. They are dedicated to providing high quality, low cost full board, half board and self-catering accommodation with entertainment, which will allow any lone parent to both afford and enjoy a family holiday. Membership is £5 per year.

Run by a women’s co-operative to provide holidays for women (and children) on moderate to limited means. Price per night is on a sliding scale depending on income. The house is meat free on a self-catering basis. A wide variety of vegetarian & vegan food is available which is included in the cost of your stay.

Available for short break or holidays, individually, with friends or as a women’s group organisation. Large groups can make a ‘closed house’ booking. The house makes an ideal place for holding skill-sharing workshops, training days or short courses.
