I have two children age 4 and 5 and have been a single parent since my youngest was 8 months. Contact has been sparse and we live about 130miles apart. been to soliciters and mediators but to no avail he just doesnt respond. now his mum is telling me grandparents have rights and she is threatining court action can she do this? Iv never said they cant come and see the children there have been slight problems when they go down so i stopped that. They are always welcome to come here and see the children they even stay at mine, this wont happen now she has turned things round. Dont know what to do!!!
Hi Pamela,
Sorry took so long for you to get a reply, but with work and you know what it's like being an SP, sometimes days just all roll into one
First of all, I think what you have been told about grandparents having rights is correct, but like you said, if they are not willing to come to some arrangement with you, then what can you do??
Maybe, if you can't have a convo with them you could try mediation, and get your point across that way. Also, try and think that when your kids are with their grandparents, then that is some time for you, to do ME things! As SP's we don't get alot of that really.
Sorry can't be of more help to you.
Take care
J xx
