Hi all.
I have a question. My husband lives abroad and I want to start divorce procedings, claim my half of the house and contents, and also force him to pay child maintenance.
I've been to CAB and they gave me the Law Societie's phone number. To cut a long story short, I spent 2 days on the phone phoning around to try to get a solicitor that knows English law as well as Dutch. As of yet I haven't found anyone that can help me.
CSA won't touch my ex as he doe's live abroad and is not in the military. He's getting off scott free while I struggle with 2 children aged 11 and 13. He's still living in our 4 bedroom house and doesn't contribute at all towards his children. I've been back in England now for 2 years and he keeps fobbing me off with the story that his solicitor will be in touch with me. Well he certainly is in no hurry.
Anyone got any ideas or maybe is in the same situation. I'd be thankful for any advice as I feel that I'm hitting my head against a wall. Thanks for reading this.
Ursula
Hi Ursula
Did you ever sort this all out? I am in a similar situation, and am about to go to a solicitor to try to get a divorce, and make my Dutch husband pay something towards the upkeep of his son.
We already sold our house that we had together, but I just want some money to help towards bringing our son up, like you say, the CSA cannot touch him, and he is sitting very pretty thank you very much!!!!!!!!!
I left him 4 years ago, and live back in the UK, but get no money from him at all, and we have a 7 year old son together.
Please let me know how you got on.
Thanks, Lisa
Hi Lisa
Your story is very similar to mine. My ex lives & works in Holland but is British. He left the UK to avoid paying the CSA about 18 mths ago although we have been seperated 5 yrs.
The CSA have informed me that they can't help as he is out of the UK, I've been looking on some websites and I'm lead to believe that the CSA can open a case but it costs them too much money. I've also thought about contacting the Dutch government.
How are you getting on with your battle? Mine is never ending!!!
