6.3 – Dealing with your own children’s behaviour – activity

For this activity you will need to identify an area of your own children’s behaviour that you would really like to improve, then describe which techniques you would use (you might use more than one for each behaviour) along with the steps you would take and then why you think these steps and techniques will work for the behaviour with your child.

In your worksheet, write a behaviour you would like to change in a child, the techniques and steps you would use, and why those techniques and steps would work for that child.

Here is the list of different behaviour techniques:

  • One-to-one time.
  • Behave well yourself.
  • Positive attention and praise.
  • Ignore when you can.
  • Be clear.
  • Negotiation.
  • Star charts and contracts.
  • Avoiding arguments.
