5.7 – Complying with our requests and instructions 2

OK, let’s just complete one more activity on how to be clear when giving children instructions. Look at the following case study: Farina is washing up in the kitchen, facing the window with her back to the kitchen door. The radio is on and her seven year old daughter Amina is in the living room watching TV. Farina has asked Amina to tidy her room, bring the dirty washing downstairs, sort out her school bag and do her homework. Amina has not responded so Farina has resorted to shouting.

In your worksheet, answer the following questions:

Question
1. How should Farina have asked her daughter to tidy her room?
2. What reasons might she give for her requests?
3. How could she have praised her daughter?

Great job! Follow the steps for being clear and your children will know where they stand… and don’t forget to always praise when they do well!
